Sorry I'm late but heyyyy yall! Glad to be back.
My 2024 has been so fly, lemme tell ya. I made a commitment to myself to read more, be consistent in all that I do, and hold myself accountable...HONESTLY accountable lol
Here I am. My YouTube vlog has been growing and its satisfying. Like watching your aloe plant sprout lil aloe babies lol I started the year with 32 subscribers and today, we're doubled! What does that mean? I don't know really lol. I'm not getting compensated monetarily, but I do enjoy what I'm doing, and I feel satisfied every time I complete the process. That's gratifying for real. It feels nice when I realize "Damn girl, you consistent af!"
Yall don't understand...this has been my ultimate life struggle: Being consistent. If you're a procrastinator who can't seem to show yourself how great you are because you never start or finish projects, then you understand the deep dark hole I was stuck in. But ya girl done messed around and made a ladder to climb out and a shovel to fill it in!
I've also completed 2 books this year! That's more books than I've ever finished in the last 10 years...total. Feels so good to be ME. Let me clarify, I'm always ME, but now I'm the me I always knew I was on the inside. When I get in my bed at night and reflect on what I accomplished in the day that passed, it's not blank. When I think about what I have left on my list of things to finish, the list is shorter and shorter, every night. Feels good. I can feel time flying but in a different way than I felt it before my recent dedication to myself. It's flying in a way that makes the wind blow through my curls as my false lashes unstick a little near my tear duct. It's flying like running through the outfield at t-ball practice with my arms out like a plane, the breeze drying my tingling, sweaty pits. Time feels liberating with a strong sense of pride now vs debilitating, agonizing, hopeless, and wasted.
I'm reading a book called Atomic Habits. One thing that's suggested to create a new habit is Habit Stacking. I'm about to stack the habits like the racks heading my way through the universe chile. My vlog is about to be a virtual book club. Reading, vlogging, blogging...BOOM! Issa triple whammy kablammy. I'm so excited to get started and to have you join me!
The first book we're reading is Then She Was Gine by Lisa Jewell.
I'm getting my "reading" fix byway of Audible these days. It was a sacrifice I had to take to accomplish my dream of becoming a reader. Requiring a physical book copy was holding me back because I don't sit long enough to read and retain...but I can listen while I drive, cook, braid hair, clean my home, wash the dishes, walk and exercise...I encourage you to give it a go if reading books is truly something you'd love to do but don't have the time or environment.
Anyway, we'll meet next Monday, March 4th on my YouTube channel: The Glow Up Vlog.
I'll see yall there!
